Click here to see where your gasoline money is going. And don’t laugh, click and suf to read just how quickly some of these properties sold out. This is one of the most lavish web sites I have seen. We clicked on in ACCT 4270, hey it’s pre spring break, at the end of class today, and WOW, everyone stood around amazed.

I think the Palm Jumeirah is amazing personally. The Palm Jumeirah is the world’s largest man-made island – its a residential and tourism destination created by Nakheel, a key company in the transformation of Dubai from a sleepy fishing village into one of the fastest growing cities in the world. It is a part of a trilogy of three islands called The Palm Islands which will increase Dubai’s shoreline by a total of 520 kms.I am glad the president (or sultan?) is pouring money directly into the economy in order to better the city of Dubai. He has single handedly turned Dubai into the Eight wonder of the world and a new tourist destination for the future. The hotels that are there are amazing and the capital investment there is unreal. They are planning and underwater hotel there too. Haliburton also has just announced that they are moving their corporate headquarters into Dubai and their CEO will reside and work there. Dubai opened up a stock exchange and they are also working on improving mass transit throughout the country. Although I hate paying a lot of money for my gas, we as Americans pay very little for gas when compared to other countries. To think that something amazing is being made with my gas dollars is a much more pleasing thought than having it given to a CEO as a compensation package (EXXON). Maybe one day I will be able to visit this great destination.

See my latest post referring to Steve Forbes column. Your gasoline price is going up because the dollar is going down because our wonderful govt thinks that will improve our balance of trade. Well there ain’t no free lunch. Higher commodity prices are the result of a cheaper currency against other currencies. I believe most of the ‘earnings’ of the XOM CEO were from stock options not sales of gasoline.
It would be nice if the guys in Dubai were as interested in bringing peace to their brothers in Iraq as they are in ski resorts to the desert….I guess they took a hard look at Las Vegas and had the same vision as Ben Siegel!LikeLike
