Slow Down Hits Home, Literally

Friday Evening

A note on my door from the apartment manager urges residents to come talk with her before moving out. She is pleading and offering to work with them.  This is a  desperate sign  of the recession really hitting San Antonio. This is not a high dollar apartment, rents are $500-$750, a nicely re done apt complex originally built in the late 1970s I would guess. 

I see Toyota is looking to lay off 18,000 in this country. Expect the news to get much worse from here as the slowdown the markets have anticipated really starts to take hold.

    This is not a surprising note for this economy. I even heard that SAPD had put out an alert for apartment complexes to close their overnight drop boxed for rent payments because individuals (thieves) were sticking their hands or using tools to take out rent checks or payments residents were leaving in there overnight. The thieves were then taking those checks, making changes to them and were able to cash them. The resident would not be aware until they would receive a late notice from the office. Talk about being creative with crime !

    Indeed in hard times crime will increase, this as Daisy says is pretty creative, and pathetic
