The financial world has been predominantly male. Merdedith’s success is proof that women are capable of making sound financial predictions. The Japanese housewives are another prime example of women’s financial success, and the financial markets looking towards them to see what they will do next. With women like Meredith and the housewives in Japan it gives women inspiration to go up against a predominantly male business world.

I wish Meredith the best but frankly this is not a woman’s issue which is the way I framed it but an ego issue.
Note it says Meredith started analyzing energy companies and then switched to banks and hit gold so to speak. Here are her options as I see it.
She is currently the toast of Oppenheimer, a large firm, and well paid. She can ride CITI et all down to their end and say I told you so. But then, what will the next triumph be? As Tony Tenile, the singer observed, they only know you when you have a hit.. That applies in all fields.
Now she will not only have to produce another hit, she is paying her own bills and will have an office to manage, an office full of egos I might add. And she is atarting in the midst of a financial collapse.
She could stay at Oppenheimer, carefully cultivate her image, take a job as some sort of admin Vice President, and make sure she is not put on the spot again. My experience is that I too ahd a good run of predictions in the mid 19850s and a few since, but I was never able to duplicate the success I had from 1984-1987. She could stay at Oppenhiemer and spend the next 20 years talking about how she did it.
As many football coaches and investment gurus and race car drivers, particultarly the latter, better to get out at the top.

I wish Meredith great success but frankly I would stay at Oppenheimer doing what she is doing, she is trading an analyst job for a managment job.LikeLike
