Jerry Flint comments  on Toyota's troubles. I agree that never before has a DOT government man told people to stop driving a particular car. It is hard for me to believe the govt is not punishing non  union Toyota at the behest of big Dem donor UAW. As Flint observes, the Cobalt plant is not being closed for its problems.

Our government views Toyota’s recent troubles as a grand opportunity to enhance General Motors’ business prospects. GM is now taking advantage of our taxpayer bailout money and promising $1,000 trade in assistance for Toyota owners wishing to trade their current auto in for a GM. Here we (the U.S. government) are again picking winners and losers. Let’s let our federal taxpayer dollars help out GM while closer to home we see how many of our San Antonio Toyota workers, also Americans, which I think our government often forgets, worry about their jobs.
