This article notes that 20% of undergraduate majors are from business. It then notes that some schools are reworking their curriculum. Too much time is spent in the nuts and bolts of finance and accounitng and not enough in critical thining,
I would disagree. Given that most graduates are either management or marketing, most do not spend much time iun finance or accounting.
I would agree that there is a notable lack of required reading ( how many book reports are required in a BBA degree?) and history. I have advocated for example a class in business history.
Well here at Professor Elam we have taken matters into our own hands already. Incoming students are first required to read and rflect on Emerson's Essay Self Reliance. Kirk Tuck's thoughts on achieving professional success via Lonely Hunter are also examined. We had our graduate students performing half of th epresentations last Saturday at SWTLC. We have numerous discussion sites about various articles not contained in the text.
Does a BBA make one a critical thinker, does a psychology BA, you tell me.
