Bill Gross is apparently still smarting over the exit of El Erian. El Erian was everywhere in the media while he was at PIMCO, the largest bond fund manager founded by Gross in 1971. while El Erian was the heir apparent, he bowed out saying someone else needed to lead. That left Gross, age 69, with a bit of egg on his face.
My expereince is that while such guys who start something, say they will retire, like a Supreme Court Justice, they are more likely to leave in a hsopital bed or simply toes up. And that is what happened here. El Erian sensed Gross would never leave, thnk Gates and Ballmer at MSFT, and so he left instead.
Remember this incident if you are ever intrigued by the promise that yes
one day all this will be yours.
