Mike Villarreal has an op ed piece on page F 6 in the Express News today. I cannot find it on the website which is typical of the mysa.com site. At any rate

Mike is running for Mayor

The City Manager Sheryl Sculley maintains the cost of today's contracts take 66% of the general fund. By 2031 it will take the entire general fund. 

Police and fire maintain it only costs 50% and that cost has been constant. 

AS he says both numbers cannot be right. 

This came about by past city administrators simply allowing gold plated contracts which do not require police and fire to pay anything for their helath insurance. 

Villarreal is correct, an indpendent audit is needed. The police and fire group are now running ads featuring the high salary of the City Manger, charging she is over paid. This is hardly the point, if she worked for a dollar a year the police and fire contract would still be bleeding the city. 

No matter who might be chosen for the task, the numbers would certainly stand seroius scrutiny and the auditors woul dneed excellent communication abilities.
