Average starting salaries for accountants are increasing 4-5.3%.

Difficulty in finding and retaining good talent has caused many employers to embrace flexibility for accounting professionals, DeNisco said. He said allowing remote access for employees and flexible hours may be necessary for firms and companies to attract and retain talent. Very true especially as the old accounting guard is retiring and the newer generation of upper management is taking their place. The whole “work-life balance” is definitely an aspect of a job that has become as important as pay and insurance.

Also I honestly wouldn’t mind flexible hours or a staggered work schedule. Instead of the 9-6 grind an 11-8 would be great for me. You don’t have to deal with traffic, which anyone in Houston can agree is a nightmare. Instead of spending 90mins in traffic it will only take me 30mins to get to the office and back each way so that’s another 2 hours a day I gain.
