Fifty years ago this week Ramsey Lewis version of The In Crowd hit the charts just behind the Beatles, Help. It stayed on the charts for 47 weeks. This linked article explains how a suggestion by a waitress led to choosing an instrumental version of the song, which made the group famous. Yes I still have this exact album in my collection.
