The vision mission statements of TAMUSA COB suggest you are being prepared for a global economy, well here goes.

(Bloomberg) — China Huarong Asset Management Co.’s credit rating was cut by Moody’s Investors Service to Baa2 from Baa1, and the borrower remains on watch for a potential further downgrade.Click for full article in finance.yahoo here.

The WSJ articlle today, page B 10, tells us that all the bad loans from Chinese banks are off loaded to Harong.

If Huarong lost its investment-grade credit rating, 56% of surveyed fund managers that hold its dollar bonds would be forced to sell, according to a Bank of America report dated Aug. 17.

    Questions for students

what  constitutes an investment  grade credit rating ?

Why did fund managers have to sell on the downgrade, at  70 cents on the dolar?

the rest of the world has had serious doubts about Chinese accounting for decades. Here we see loans are not written off but merely transferred to Harong.  Gee didn't Enron do pretty much the same thing with its SPE debt, off loading it  from the Enron balance sheet to a third party?

Gosh Xi is not likely to let Huarong go bust, but that does not mean it has a strong balance sheet.

Here is an article from finance.yahoo.com. I recommend reading lots of financial lilnks, see  this weblog and Helpful Websites to gain a better

understanding of accounting and finance. Here is a good example, do you know what citi is recommending?

Bloomberg) — Citigroup Global Markets says Treasury yields are set to rise, and there’s a way to screen out one of the main risk factors that may push them lower by betting against the yuan.

The U.S. brokerage recommends its clients position for higher U.S. rates and also use options to wager against any strength in China’s currency. The rationale is that a slowdown in Chinese economic growth that would drag down Treasury yields, will also cause the dollar to appreciate versus the yuan.

“While the near-term picture is murky, our conviction on the broader macro picture is supportive of higher” U.S. 10-year yields, Citigroup strategist Jabaz Mathai in New York wrote in a client note. “Given that China weakness is a macro risk for rates, we reduce the premium by selling short-dated out-of-the-money puts on USD/CNH.”

Mathai says the outlook for Treasuries over the next couple of weeks is hard to call, but over the longer term a rebound in economic growth and Federal Reserve tapering will see benchmark 10-year yields climb to 2% by the end of 2021.

Citigroup recommends initiating a short position in Treasuries through buying a structure known as payer spreads on 10-year swap rates, with a six-month expiry, aiming for rates to rise by 25 to 50 basis points. Investors should simultaneously sell three-month puts on USD/CNH struck at 6.40.

Treasury 10-year yields were at 1.27% on Monday and the offshore yuan was at 6.4958 per dollar.

    One

Take a lot of practice quizzes.

Practice makes perfect. Aim to take several 20-question practice quizzes a week, and make sure to budget 90 seconds per question. That's the pace you'll want to stick to for the actual CPA Exam.

    Two

Don't memorize the wording of your practice questions.

The CPA Exam is non-disclosed, so you won’t see the same questions you practice on the actual exam. Focus on learning testable concepts, not the wording of individual questions.

    Three

    Watch for "negative words."

Negative words (like "not," "never," and "least likely") are bolded in the question stem. It’s easy to miss a question like this if you are rushing, so make sure to read them carefully!

    Four

    Review the answer explanations.

It's better for your exam performance if you know why something is right or wrong, as opposed to simply knowing that it is. Task-Based Simulations, and your future coworkers, are going to ask for the reasoning behind your answers, so it's best to get in that habit now.
