    The school e mail is simply not responding. I have tried to answer one e mail about a quiz, yes the     quiz for 3304 is now posted but the computer server at school is apparently locked up. it just does nothing. 

    I see Mandy sent me an e mail but I cannot open it.

    this is yet another reason to have a weblog separate and independent from the school. 

    If you have a problem use my personal e mail and let me know 

    As of now I am unable to respond on the school e mail

    And this is yet another reason to NOT link connect or my accounting lab to BB on the school server!

    Please share the attached flyer with your accounting majors and other business students who may be interested in pursuing CPA certification.  The San Antonio CPA Society’s annual Accounting Careers Workshop is scheduled for Friday, September 25, 2015 from 5:30-9 p.m., in the NEW Norris Conference Center 618 NW Loop 410 between Blanco and San Pedro Avenue in the Park North retail area.

     

    The Workshop features a panel of CPAs representing the Big Four, a large regional firm, several local firms, and business.  The panelists are all CPAs who will briefly discuss their career paths and offer advice to the students on interviewing, networking, resumes and mentoring.  Sponsoring accounting firms and companies will be on hand for a meet-the-firms opportunity both before and after the workshop.  To date, sponsors include ATKG LLP, Becker, BKD LLP, Davidson Freedle Espenhover & Overby, Grant Thornton, MGR Accounting Recruiters, Quirk & Company, Ridout Barrett & Company, Sol Schwartz & Associates, and Weaver, with additional sponsors joining each day.

    Yesterday  joined President Teniente-Matson, Provst Snow, and Student Services' Melissa Mahan at a get acquainted meeting at Accenture Federal Services.

    The hyperlink takes you to their page with a description of the company as well as job offerings.

    Out of the 6,000 employees in the company, 1,000 work  here serving some 85 different tasks. The firm is located in an attractive office park across west 410 from Ingram Park Mall.

    Accenture as you may know was the result of splitting the consulting side of Arthur Andersen from the accounting side. Accenture  was formed in 2000. It is a public company trading with the symbol ACN.

    ENTRY-LEVEL ASSISTANT NATIONAL BANK EXAMINER (ANBE) OVERVIEW

    Join the OCC as an assistant national bank examiner and experience an exciting and challenging career opportunity ensuring the safety and soundness of national banks and savings associations (collectively, banks).  The assistant national bank examiner position has excellent promotion potential involving advancement to associate national bank examiner, and upon successful completion of our Uniform Commission Examination (UCE) to the national bank examiner level. To prepare for the UCE, our examiners receive top-notch classroom and on-the-job training. 

    Entry-Level Assistant National Bank Examiners fill a very dynamic role within the Midsize Community Bank Supervision unit.  Assistant National Bank Examiners spend 15 to 95 percent of their early careers traveling to banks, depending on their assigned field office location. Most work is performed at the banks we supervise or at the examiner’s assigned field office location.

    Key Responsibilities of an Assistant National Bank Examiner Include: 

     

    ·     Assist or conduct bank examinations under the supervision and guidance of experienced national bank examiners.

    ·     Work with a team to gather, organize, and analyze bank data.

    ·     Assess compliance with banking laws & regulations.

    ·     Prepare written conclusion/recommendation reports and memos, which are shared with bank executives and senior OCC examiners.

    ·     Participate in on-the-job and formal training, which include bank supervision, fundamentals of bank accounting, banking systems and controls, computer applications, and banking law. 

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS & CONSIDERATIONS 

    To qualify for the entry-level bank examiner position and be considered for a Screening Interview, you will need:

    ·     A four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in accounting, banking, business administration, commercial or banking law, economics, finance, marketing, or other field closely related to the position, OR

    ·     Three years of work experience, that provided you with knowledge of accounting or auditing principles. Such work could include reviewing, analyzing, recommending or approving loan applications, investments, or other actions involving the properties or monies of others held in trust by or for a financial institution; internal accounting or auditing work for a financial institution that required understanding of debits and credits, balance sheets, and operating statements, OR

    ·     Equivalent combinations of education and experience, OR

    ·     A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate obtained through written examination in a State, territory, or the District of Columbia, AND, 

    ·     To pass the Entry-Level Knowledge Test and Written Communication Skills Test.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS 

    The OCC offers competitive salaries under a performance-based pay plan.  The entry-level examiner starting salary is a non-negotiable $50,000 per year, plus additional geographical pay in certain areas.   

    Although part of the federal government, the OCC has a more flexible salary and benefits program than most other government offices.  Many benefits are paid for by the agency, at no cost to employees, while others are generously subsidized.  The following provides highlights of the OCC’s benefits programs:

    ·     Health, dental, and vision insurance;

    ·     Retirement programs with a total agency contribution of up to 8% per year;

    ·     Generous holiday and vacation programs (Ten paid holidays and between 13 to 26 days of vacation each year); and,

    The above is the official release on the event. It will be a big improvement to move this to a larger venue. Previously it was at the Training Center and was jampacked. THis is a well done program. They usually have a panel of speakers to describe opportunities available to CPAs.
