We study accounting for Property Plant and Equipment in Intermediate Accounting. Intangible assets or Intellectual Property  in an increasingly greater portion of that asset class.

Recall that I mention in class how accounting is an ever growing discipline. And that auditing is not just about adding up the re adding the numbers. Today audit takes many forms.

So this book on auditing Intellectual Property  caught me eye. Recall I mentioned the advantages of joining IIA as a student member. I learned of this book through an e mail from IIA.

So this post demonstrates multiple events – the diversity of accounting, the rise of IP, and the importance of Internal Audit.

You swill hear me discuss the expanding role of accountants in business. Sure enough in today's WSJ we learn how  Chief Accountants are Adding Up. Controllers are focusing on budgeting and planning while Chief Accountants are responsible for the nuts and bolts of global bookkeeping.

Since 2009 there has been a 40% rise in the number of chief accounting officer titles.

As I say, the sooner you focus on which certification you want to obtain the better you will launch your career.

In contrast to our Who's the Worst List, we out of fairness, start a Who's the Best List.

8/25/15 Our first group is clearly the six who stopped the gunman on the Paris bound train.  In the same spirit as the group who kept the third plane from hitting the White House, Let's Roll, this group simply charged in and did what was necessary.  TheFrench President awarded the Legion d'Honneur, the nation's highest decoration, of four of the six.

I made this comment over the weekend to a the Director of the Socionomic Institute

from the tv review section in the sunday paper regarding Fear the
    Walking Dead

Unlike Rick and his crew, the folks we will meet on Fear are not seasoned survivors. They are a diverse group witnessing the implosion of society at its breaking point.

Wow, if all of us had tried to concoct a scenario correct for the mood right now we could not do better than that
Five years after the debut of Walking Dead Fear is billed as

the beginning of what will eventually become the zombie apocalypse

I would say the timing is perfect spot on for the series

Sure enough it set a cable series premiere record Sunday with 10.1 million viewers.

    Socionomic Explanation

We are in an 18 year period of economic stagnation. Negative mood is a feature of such an era. Today's choices in entertainment trend to all sorts of monsters from zombies to vampires. The producers of this series have timed it perfectly to coincide with a top in the stock market, positive mood now shifting to negative. We may well see a return of a stock market apocalypse with prices collapsing 50% in the next year. If so this series will mirror the mood of the public.
