To support the effort for government rescue of many during the Depression, FDR sent the best photographers he could find out to show what was happening.
Dorothy Lange was one of them.
Her is perhaps her most famous photograph.
This is a migrant Mother with several children. I recall reading she had sold her car a few hours earlier. The look of desperation on her face is dramatic. Her older two children hide their faces rather than reveal to the camera.
Next time you read about someone in 'poverty/' in modern day San Antonio, remember this photo. Photo not posting will try later

I added Encounter to this famous Marine aphorism.

Improvise
Improvise: It has been said by many commentators on military strategy ranging from Sun Tzu to Colin Powell, that the best laid plans last only until initial contact with the enemy.
(Or “…the first shot is fired”, the quotes vary, but the idea is the same.)
By analogy to the contingencies you may be planning for, things can quickly go bad fast: EMP, pandemic, weather, exploding caldera, political situations. Even bad luck can quickly destroy your carefully thought out strategy.
Have a plan (or a series of contingency plans) but leave room for flexibility.
Shift your plans to take advantage of situations as they arise!
• Items can be repurposed or put to dual use. Many of us already do this without giving it a second thought.
Adapt
Adapt: Lots of MSB postings underscore the lesson that things are going to be different from what you plan for. Expect this! Be creative, you might just find a new way of doing old things and see things with a new eye.
• For example a couple years ago I had shoulder surgery, which wiped out an ability to hold a hunting rifle with both hands. Solution: hunt with a handgun, weak side no less. It was amazing how my weak side was able to improve itself in practice sessions prior to the season.
Overcome
Overcome: Murphy’s law states anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
Be prepared by knowing what other options are available.
Hit an obstacle. Go through it, around it or over it. Come up with creative solutions.
Stuff is great, but the most important thing is your brain, use it!
• Encounter a life obstacle? There are many ways to skin a cat!
Improvise, Adapt, Overcome
It is an approach to readiness, and how to act in the face of adversity.
It is a state of mind!

My students have enjoyed reading Ralph W. Emerson's Self Reliance. I found this lecture delivered by Emerson in Boston in 1842. The object is to explain the nature of Transcendental thinking.
Emerson was influenced by the thinking of Immanuel Kant.Kant coined the term Transcendental Forms. Here is an excerpt from the lecture.
It is well known to most of my audience, that the Idealism of the present day acquired the name of Transcendental, from the use of that term by Immanuel Kant, of Konigsberg, who replied to the skeptical philosophy of Locke, which insisted that there was nothing in the intellect which was not previously in the experience of the senses, by showing that there was a very important class of ideas, or imperative forms, which did not come by experience, but through which experience was acquired; that these were intuitions of the mind itself; and he denominated them Transcendental forms. The extraordinary profoundness and precision of that man's thinking have given vogue to his nomenclature, in Europe and America, to that extent, that whatever belongs to the class of intuitive thought, is popularly called at the present day Transcendental.

Apparently the Chrisleys did not know best as both are in prison. Todd's appeal was rejected, he got 12 years
hand another judge reconsidered Julie and deicded the first judge got it right.
Their further apeal based on an illegal search is sheer fantasy, save the money and try for good behavior early release.
Despite what one hears about minimum security country club prisons for SBF, Sean DIddy, and Weinstein, this is a big come down, and they get the same lousy meals as everyone else.
SBF and Combs are in the same dorm room prison style, go figure.

Morgan Stanley down grades Ford from a target of 16 to 12 after it drops to 10.38. No doubt they will drop the 12 target of the stock falls further.
This is typical of analysts comments,the cows leave the barn and then they close the door. the correct recommendation on Ford would be to avoid until they stop losing money on EVs, losing thousands on the electric F 150.
The irony of all this is that Ford unlike GM or Chrysler . Stellantis did not take bankruptcy but assumed an $18 B debt. Today ford is just over ten bucks and GM is 45. The only conclusion is that bankruptcy is not a black eye, it is now a strategy. JNJ just took BK for the third time and it trades around 150.
