Long time UT Football Coach Darrel Royal used to say

Dance with the one that brung ya

In short do not cast aside your date for another at the dance

More broadly, show some loyalty to another whose long tenure has made you proud.

I see UT Austin has hired former 22 year TCU Coach as a Special Assistant.

    from wiki

Gary Allen Patterson (born February 13, 1960) is an American football coach and former player. He is the former head football coach at Texas Christian University and the winningest coach in Horned Frogs' history. Patterson has led the TCU Horned Frogs to six conference championships—one Conference USA title in 2002; four Mountain West Conference titles in 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011; —and nine bowl game victories—including victories in the 2011 Rose Bowl and 2014 Peach Bowl. His 2010 squad finished the season undefeated at 13–0 after a 21–19 Rose Bowl victory over the Wisconsin Badgers on New Year's Day 2011, and ranked second in the final tallying of both major polls.

but after a  3-5 season in  2021, TCU dropped him. Talk about a fair weather friend. What does this say about TCU ethical behavior.

In August 2016, TCU announced Patterson's contract had been extended through 2022, with an annual base salary of $4.75 million.[11] The Frogs went 6-7 (4-5) in 2016 losing 31-23 to Georgia in the Liberty Bowl. In 2017, TCU opened with a 63-0 drubbing of Jackson State. They dismantled Arkansas 28-7 in Week 2. In Week 3, the #20 Frogs beat SMU in the Iron Skillet Rivalry 56-36. In week 4, the #16 Frogs upset #6 Oklahoma State 44-31 behind a 31 carry 160 yard 3 TD performance from HB Darius Anderson. Next, the #9 Frogs won 31-24 over #23 West Virginia in a game in which QB Kenny Hill had a passing, rushing, and receiving TD. #6 TCU then won 26-6 over Kansas State and moved up to #4 with a 6-0 (3-0) start. They shutout Kansas 43-0 to be 7-0 (4-0) and leading the Big 12. However, in Week 8 they lost 14-7 to #25 Iowa State dropping to #8. They beat Texas the next week 24-7 moving up to #6, but they lost 38-20 to #5 Oklahoma. TCU bounced back by beating Texas Tech 27-3 in which Kenny Hill didn't play. In Week 13, the #12 Frogs beat Baylor 45-22 to finish 10-2 (7-2). They made the inaugural Big XII Title Game as #11 but lost 41-17 to #3 Oklahoma. They dropped to #13 and were selected to the Alamo Bowl against #15 Stanford. TCU beat Stanford 39-37 to win the Alamo Bowl.

Patterson and TCU mutually agreed to part ways on October 31, 2021, after a 3-5 start. At the time of his departure, he was the second longest tenured coach in the FBS with one program, only behind Iowa's Kirk Ferentz.

Heartland Group Ventures raised $122 M form 700 investors in a Perminan Basin Ponzi scheme.

The original complaint was filed in December, detailing how Heartland and its affiliates used five unregistered security offerings to fund projects they claimed would bolster existing wells or drill new ones in Texas.

I am amazed that such investors would not hire an external CPA to check out the validity of such a venture before investing. I have made presentations on such schemes to SA IMA, CPA , IIA

Marco Sully Perez has been charged with a ponzi scheme to defraud veteran infestors.

Amazingly this is the same outline as Four Winds Logistics  which sent former State Senator Carlos Uresti to jail.

This scheme garnered $9.25 M for Sully.

Man of the Year Make that the Decade

He was dealt a weak hand. His country’s population is shrinking. There is no consumer economy only one natural resource for export. No one wants to live there. Did I mention the lousy weather?

But Vladimir Putin has managed to turn all this around. He has a warm water port in “Syria on the Mediterranean. He got Team Biden to approve the Nordstrom natural gas pipeline to Germany. PM Merkel closed the nuclear and coal plants giving Vlad a monopoly on German energy. He has massed 100,000 troops on the Ukraine border and Team Biden promises there will be no military action on our part. With Ukraine talks breaking down, he now threatens sending troops to Venezuela. Russians in the Western Hemisphere will be a first since the Cuban Missile Crisis.

And all of that has to be good for the price of natural gas and oil. Should any conflict occur, Russia will surely restrict EU energy supplies. He re-built the Russian Military while the US was frittering around in the Middle East. He is making laying claim to the Arctic. For these reasons he is our Man of the Decade in terms of achieving his goals while leaving the EU and USA off balance.

Last week we promised a test of the previous $84 high in crude prices and we are getting just that. Natural gas futures gapped up Wednesday to over $4.75. Then on Thursday dropped back to $14.27 filling that gap. Natural gas looks good to a new high of $5 or more. And if an actual conflict breaks out, higher prices are in store for the energy sector.

The DJIA has been hanging around 36,000 without much conviction. The NASD has dropped from the November high of 15,900 to 14,788. If it takes out the January low of 14,600 the bloom may well be off the tech sector.   Only 24% of NASD stocks are over their 50-day moving average. As previously noted breadth is in a state of collapse. Amazon has dropped 550 points since its November high.   Netflix has dropped from its November high of 700to 520.

Public dissatisfaction with Team Biden hit another new low in the low 30s for approval rating. This all looks more and more like the start of 1973 which led to a 50% drop in the markets.

And inflation is the highest in 40 years. New highs in energy prices can only goose that statistic higher. It is not 1981 the height of inflation. It is 1971, the start of inflation.
