Take a look at Broken China in the latest Business Week. While some things like building for the Olympics seem to get done, others like regulating out of control IP violators, rudderless stock exchanges, and tainted food are not getting done. Gee could a communist central control appartus not be the answer? Both China and Russia are relatively lawless countries when it comes to this sort fo thing. No doubt the low pay leads to corrpution and lack of competitive functioning markets makes it worse.

I knew something smelled rotten in this state…It’s impossible to achieve such a maximum growth in quantity without significantly sacrificing quality. Everytime I read about how much and/or how fast China can produce something I wonder who is doing the work and who is cashing in. Unfortunately, I agree with the linked article in that contiditions will more than likely not change anytime soon under Red control…maybe around the same time we adopt a flat tax.

I will make another post but Guadalupe’s comment that we will get changea bout the time we adopt the flat tax came to mind as I read this week’s 7/30/07 article, Not Made In China. Seems the bureaucrats don’t want to give up local control, of everything, just like Congress does not want to give up their dirty little secret of favor dispensing other wise known as the tax code.
