Its amazing how the district can be so blind. Common sense says dont just hand out credit cards, do not trust 1400 individuals on making ethical decisions when given that freedom, and especially do not let them keep track of their on reconcilation and spending. It is crazy to think that the DISD has lost $2 million on small purchases, and are just catching on when someone else brought it to their attention. Just amazing.

I quite agree, it is amazing that
this program was put in place with no internal controls whatsoever
that it went on for so long
that only one minor person has gone to jail
that the supt et al are still there
this is an extreme example of no internal control and no accountability to the taxpayers, wLikeLike

When I first heard about this on the news, I was very upset because I stay in Dallas and this really did makes DISD look bad. I agree with you April i can’t belive that they gave 1400 different people credit cards and told them that they have $1000 spending limit. On top of that the the card holders were supposed to keep all their receipts and then do a monthly reconciliation in which they put each receipt in the proper category in a log. Did DISD really think that everyone whoud do this, what were they thinking? My question is why did Michael Hinojosa fired?
