The Trading Room

Larger universities are constructing so called 'trading rooms' for students.  Actually these are not much more than just a computer lab with say two instead of one computer screen. And the idea is that one can access some sort of database as though fundamental analysis will get a correct answer to stock value. Well in the current environment, one can throw the fundamental and technical analysis out the window.

I would suggest an environment where we could access

CNBC

Fox Business News

Bloomberg

stockcharts.com on a real time computer

As I write i am watching a very good discussion of the auto industry that includes the CEO of Autonation and Kekorian's former rep Jerome York on the GM Board. I think students could benefit from watching such discussions. Seems to me that would be a better us of the tv in the first floor than watching ESPN.

    Thats interesting. I was watching the automakers plea for bailout money, I thought it was interesting that they say they will change their ways when all three companies flew on their private jets to that meeting. Now why couldnt they fly on the regular airlines, why do they need private jets? I thought they were suppose to be cutting back.

    I like the interview that Mitt Romney did and his suggestions. I have to completely agree with Mitt – that the Big Three need to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and reorganize – get rid of the bad labor contracts, bad debt, etc. Their business model is one of failure and throwing money at it will only prolong the inevitable while at the same time, losing money for the taxpayers.

    I have not read the articole but I was a bankrutpcy trustee for five years, I would guess this suggestion would result in
    inabiltiy to finance cars for customers
    demands for all cash payment on delvery by suppliers
    colllapse of local dealerships and massive local layoffs, carnage in Michigan
    lawyers for all sides would make $25 B
    and finally there is simply not enough money in the till to do that Delphi has been in bkrupty for three years
