A tad off subject, but this is why we as Americans will always have trouble with illegal immigration. Not that the story specifically spoke about illegal immigrants, I am sure that there are plenty of people who are here legally that send money, but I think of “Under the Same Moon,” where the mother sent money back home to support her son. Mexico needs, economically, for people to cross over to American, whichever way possible, and send that money back home. Either way you look at it, it’s a pretty sad story and a sign of the times we are in. It also brings out how our economies are linked to each other.

Mexico needs policies that encourage the 40+ billionaires in Mexico to keep their money in Mexico and employ people. Mexico forbids foreign investment in its oilfields, soon Pemex will not produce enough energy for Mexico, much less for export, this is ridiculous. Mexico encourages citizens to leave, I know of no other country in the world that does that, yet Mexico has thousands of miles of coastland, natural resources, harbors, and attractive geography.
Example, if Spain had colonized Canada instead of Mexico, would Canada look economically like Mexico? It is a matter of mental outlook and planning I think. Why doesn’t all of Mexico work as well as the tourist spots like Cancun?
