Dr. Sowell nails it once again. As always, political gain is far more beneficial than practicing common sense. Clasic case of promising a chicken in every pot and delivering it, at least until it was time to pay for the chicken in the check-out line of the grocery store. Both parties are guilty indeed, but many times the Left in their “every-should-own-a-home” utopia pushes this concept far more. The Right, in an effort not to get villified by the Left, drops their pants and goes right along with it.
If one can barely afford to make rent, what makes one think that they can affor a home? Apparently, the politicians do.

Hold on now Austin, John Thane thought he deserved a $10 M bonus for selling Merrill to Bank of America, and so decorated his office with one million bucks from Merrill, meanwhile the President of B of A is in hot water…did Richard Fuld at Lehman give back any of his $300 M the year before that firm went broke, I didn’t think so, lots of blame to go round here…Karl Rove says Bush really tried to stop all this, news to Bill O Reiley and me too
