And now from hotair.com, would you believe the new White House Protocol Officer, a former Hillary staffer, has not filed her taxes?  Capricia Marshall managed to forget, for  two years no less.

Yes it was the fault of the Post Office.

Yes it was the fault of her accountant who did not bother to mention filing the return in that BIG binder of stuff…

Trust me we accountants make it very clear the return needs to be filed and signed.

And yes, the IRS did not assess late filing penalties.

No you and I cannot get that deal.

As Fox says, we report you decide.

Try explaining to your clients that regardless of our politicians (and actors, musicians, etc) filing history, that you are protecting their best interest in filing their return in an honest, ethical and law abiding manor. A couple of conversations a week like this for the last several months – it gets old!
Whatever happend to “Lead by example”????

Indeed, a voluntary tax system presumes that everyone plays by the rules, if the very few that have been selected for govt posts have not even bothered to file, what does this say about the thousands of govt types that have note been examibned. I will be making a post about riding in the wagon versus pulling the wagon.

In all fairness, I worked at a tax office and many times would find me and my employees hounding the most higher income individuals to come in and get us the documents needed to file their taxes. Yes, we do let them know it needs to be filed and signed. You don’t want to mess with uncle Sam. And yet, they will not be adding penalties on this case???? I am at a loss for words, when the IRS wants ‘his’ money, believe me ‘HE’ WANTS HIS MONEY!! Why is she any different from the next taxpayer?

you know what all these politicians now that they and there “people” are all being watch closely by many people just waiting for them to mess up you would think that with all the money they rake in from their campaines that they would be able to and smart enough to pay their taxes in a timely manner and not try to finaggel their way out of it just because they think they are top dogs and higher up the ladder then everyone else!

Well one would think but apparently one would be wrong….
I agree Trevor, and as I said in the post, given the number that are not paying when ‘one would think’ someone had checked on such things BEFORE nominating them, one wonders how many never get around to it, paying or filing that is. If Geithner had not been nominated, would he have ever paid the social security matching? Pentlty and interest and tax would be a pretty good number by the time he becomes 65
