Here is an interesting example of just how much money we are about to owe. It is also an interesting example of how to present a complicated matter, very large numbers that dwarf understandiong.

In regards to the “Debt Road Trip”, there are many advantages of the Federal Reserve giving assistance to major banks, auto mobile manufacturers, and such institutions. The government financial support program has allowed the Federal banking system to avoid desolation of our large industrial manufacturing firms. Although the debt seems to be extremely high, there are ready and willing investors to purchase treasury, notes, and other United States instruments. They are doing that with confidence that they are not going to lose money by lending money for debt purchases. In addition the US government is benefiting by taking large ownership interest in General Motors, AIG, and Citi bank and other financial institutions. This ownership equity position will allow the US to move ahead with the clean energy and green initiatives and allow us to move dependence away from crude oil and other energy resources. This conversion of debt, is a human undertaking and will contribute to higher levels of employment into a new industry and present a model to other countries to follow suit along the trail that the US has established in 2009, therefore any concern about the national debt will provide for the US economy.

Would you invest in a unionized company knowing the govt will not honor the bankruptcy code but instead will give the company to the union instead of the secured creditors who put up all the money? Yes this is a model for otehr countries to follow but it is rather typical of the banana republic currently represent3ed by Hugo Chavez, he recently nationalized oil companies wihtout paying market value.LikeLike
