I have been criticized for emphasizing the importance of obtaining a certification.

    This was an interesting reading. Given recent layoffs the job market is becoming more and more competitive. For example, when I applied for my current job, 130 others applied for the same position. Typically only 30 applications were received for this position. I’ve also heard that some hiring committees will steer away from applicants who may not seem overqualified, but “overly ambitious,” for fear that they will move on too quickly!

    Well congrats on getting picked out of 130!. We will be focusing on cases that use tools we have studied to be successful at starting one’s own business.
    I suspect that real, new hiring will continue to fall off. Replacements yes, actual new positions, not much.
