Take a look at the interesting graphic on

Mish Global Economic Analysis

We have been discussing budgets and this is an interactive display of where the Ryan versus Obama budget proposals would take us. Oh neither gets the job done. And of course any real action is way in the future which means it won't happen.

I believe that the U.S. government needs to stop increasing spending and raise taxes fairly; this needs to be done with moderation. We need to slowly bring down the debt, so that we will have a balanced budget. Whatever budget plan is chosen or whether the plans are combined, there needs to be a realistic plan. Everybody needs to do their part, everybody needs to contribute, everybody needs to give up some of their benefits and everybody needs pay little bit more taxes, in other words “Some will give all, All must give some.” It is going to take everybody to bring down America’s debt, we don’t have a choice. Once the U.S. government’s budget is balanced, then we can use the extra money to help people and have some tax breaks, this will only will happen when the budget is balanced. Balance the budget first, then give benefits to the poor and lower taxes for the rich.

What benefit are the poor lacking now?
I think Ryan and Obama are nowhere near addressing the magnitude of the problem. What has the Dept of Energy ever done for energy independence or lowering the price of energy?
Let’s have a real zero based budget and eliminate entire departments.

I agree with you that the benefits for poor are adequate and fair. And I also agree with you that some U.S. government departments are not doing their jobs. If the U.S. government is going to balance the budget, there have to be some cuts in benefits to the poor. And also the government needs to cut wasteful spending. But I believe that this is half the equation, the government also needs to raise some revenue (increase taxes). I know that this will be painful to all, but something needs to done. I hope that the politicians balance the budget with fairness and moderation; nothing has to be permanent, every year the budget plans can be adjusted. We need to start somewhere and there needs to be some kind of compromise.

The last thing the federal alligator needs is more money,
I could easily eliminate entire departments at the Federal level which would never be missed, see the video on Sandy Springs I posted this morning
