I thought the graphs comparing this with past recessions were interesting. No net job s have been created since 2000, lots of folks cannot afford to retire, and more people are coming into the 'work force' all the time. So, no wonder unemployment is up.
What I got from the article is jobs are not coming back for all types of workers. And that you are not guaranteed of getting the same job with the same pay. Most jobs are moving overseas. Americans might be the new immigrates in foreign countries. If the American companies are going overseas then the average American workers will follow soon! FYI: the first picture scared me. I thought it was a Halloween picture, but it was the futrue labor market, if things don’t change.

This article is very eye opening and makes me very sad for these people that do not have jobs and are struggling to find them. It also makes you realize that some jobs have left the U.S. market to other countries and are not going to return. This makes things very difficult for people in the U.S.. I am very fortunate of the job that I have now and the opportunities that they are giving me, I know that I hopefully will not have these same troubles.

I looked at this report and started thinking about jobs that can’t be exported where I would fit in as an accountant or in some other such capacity. Perhaps local food manufacturing plants, bakery-type plants, produce processing, etc. Fast-food or local restaurant businesses. HEALTH CARE. Government (gag). Real Estate. Landscaping. Entertainment. Accountants are needed and involved in all of these areas. Making yourself marketable is key!

I wonder if all of these unemployed people are really struggling to find work, or if they are very picky or lazy. I see plenty of “Now Hiring” signs all over Texas so why can’t some people move and get a job. While they might have to take a pay cut or work harder than what they might like, they will still be pumping money back into the economy and eventually open up new jobs. Many of the “Now Hiring” jobs are ones that can’t be outsourced…a service job. I am not saying that there shouldn’t be any unemployment in America, but maybe the days of going to work just to help out your family and country are back.

Indeed most studies show that people only seriously begin looking for work as their unemployment runs out. I have thought that unemployment should be decreasing from the start, ie, the second check is less than the first to send a message, this is not your new job.
