Kirk Tuck likes the Kindle Fire. I do not know how compatible it is with various textbooks.
The tablet business is about where the PC business as in the late 1980s. We have multiple platforms with no clear leader, other than IPad.
As Kirk says having the AMZN warehouse is handy. I see one of the comments is that magazines like Nat Geo are hard to read, that's a negative. We faculty are supposed to get iPads this fall. More to follow.
I think this is a great product but you still paying for what you get. The iPad still offers more, but for the price this is good

One would of used to think that Apple could not get one of their products to dominate the market in this global economy since they are known for setting a higher price than competitors, but we seen how the Ipod really took over, and even lower cost mp3 players didn’t really pose a threat to them.
I think the Ipad might still face stiff competition since the Ipad is basically one function, and the IPAD has many, but their control of Apps might make it difficult for them to gain significant market share.

Perceived value trumps price as HPQ and DELL line the aisles in Office Depot and Wal Mart.
As Alex says Apple has done what MSFT did in the PC market in the early 1980s but much much faster. HP’s tablet has already come and gone. AMZN and B & N are competing in a slightly different market even now.
