Now the FEDS are with holding SS payments on recipients that have not paid their student loans. In some cases these are grand parents that borrowed to help grand kids.

I hve repeatedly warned that the Student Loan Crisis would be one of the factors in the next market meltdown. This has a parallel in the previous era of stagnation from 1966-1984. Then many young men fled to Canada rather than 'pay their fair share'  by being drafted into the Viet nam War. This conflict was resolved when Jimmy Carter gave them all amnesty allowing them to return home without penalty.

This is embelmatic of the fight for survival that is coming. My concept of the New Civil War has pitted the North against the South. Now the Federal government becomes a third player. No end of fronts in this war

I completely agree that we may be going into a very uncomfortable period in the next few years. However, I don’t know that Romney-Ryan will add anything substantive if in office. Currently, student loans are already exempt from bankruptcy laws and it seems new measures are being taken to ensure payment of these loans. What would really entice me personally to vote for either candidate is if they abandoned this notion of the American Dream (be whatever you want to be) and proposed offering more financial aid towards marketable skills such as accounting, nursing, truck driving, etc.

Thank you for sharing the importance of this terrible crisis. I hate that I have to continue my retail job when I have two degrees. I put all of the time into my studies, sacrificed all of my weekends and social opportunities to find myself extremely disappointed and in debt. Sioux falls looks at loans like they are at the top priority. I can’t wait to find politicians that share my opinions.
