We have discussed Sears Holdings SHLD numerous times on this blog.Once regarded as an investing whiz, owner Ed Lampert seems determined to render the former giant retailer moribund.

After creating an REIT which allows for a sale and lease back of the stores, Sears is now saddled with the high lease cost. With sales still falling, looks like Sears won't be where America shops for a lot longer. That is sad for the firm that invented catalog retailing which has now morphed into internet retailing.

I remember leafing through the catalog as a kid. I know there was a time when it was a big thing to get that catalog in the mail. With Sears demise apparently imminent, I wonder how far we are from losing the mall?

Luis poses a good question about malls. It is worth a post.
